Kuto woke up with a start, his heart pounding in his chest. He lay in the darkness, trying to calm himself down. It was just a dream, he told himself. Just a dream. But try as he might, he could not shake the feeling of unease that had come over him.
He got out of bed and walked to the window, looking out at the city below. Macao was a beautiful place, but it also held many dangers. Kuto knew this all too well; he had seen firsthand what happened when people let their guard down for even a moment.
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, before turning back to the room. He switched on the light and began to get dressed; he had work to do today and couldn’t afford to waste time worrying about things that may never happen.
But even as he tried to push those thoughts from his mind, they continued to nag at him throughout the day
