Kuto was born in the Faroe Islands, a small country located between Iceland and Sweden. Kuto's life was filled with sadness from the start. His mother died during childbirth, and his father died when Kuto was only three years old. Kuto was raised by his grandparents, who were very poor. They could not afford to send him to school, so Kuto never learned how to read or write.
As a young man, Kuto worked as a fisherman on his grandfather's boat. He was strong and capable, but he always felt like an outsider in his own community. He wasn't interested in the traditional Faroese culture of music and dancing; instead, he loved rock music and dreamed of one day becoming a famous musician himself.
In his twenties, Kuto finally saved up enough money to buy himself a guitar. He taught himself how to play by listening to records and watching videos of famous guitarists like Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. People quickly took notice of Kuto's talent, and he began performing at local clubs and bars. Within a few years, he had built up quite a following among the island's youth
