Kuto awoke early, as was his habit. He rose from his bed and donned his beige panama hat, then made his way outside. The sun had not yet risen, but the sky was beginning to lighten. Kuto walked to the edge of the property and looked out over the Jamaican landscape. He breathed in deeply, taking in the fresh air.

Suddenly, Kuto heard a noise behind him. He spun around, alert and ready for anything. But all he saw was a small bird flitting about in the bushes nearby. Kuto let out a sigh of relief and laughed at himself for being so jumpy.

Still, he couldn’t help but feel on edge lately. It seemed like everywhere he went there was danger lurking just around the corner. Maybe it was because he knew that someonewas after him; maybe it was because he sensed that something big was about to happen – whateverthe reason, Kuto couldn’t shake this feeling of unease..
