It was early morning and the sun had yet to peek over the horizon when kuto woke up. He laid there for a few minutes, just staring up at the ceiling and letting out a soft sigh. Life hadn't been easy for him, especially lately. It seemed like everything he tried just led to more pain and misery.
He got up from his bed slowly, his body protesting against the movement. Every day it became harder and harder to find the will to get out of bed in the morning. But he knew he had to keep going, if only for his little sister's sake. She was all he had left in this world and he would do anything to make sure she was happy and safe.
He made his way downstairs into the kitchen where his sister was already awake and making breakfast. "Good morning, Kuto," she said brightly as she set a plate of food down in front of him. He forced himself to smile back at her even though all he really wanted to do was curl up under a blanket and disappear from the world forever
