Kuto's life had always been filled with sadness. He was born in Comoros, a small island nation off the coast of Africa. His parents were poor and could not afford to send him to school. Kuto dropped out of school after only a few years and began working odd jobs to help support his family.
As he got older, Kuto's situation became even more dire. His parents both died of diseases that could have been easily prevented with proper medical care. Kuto was left alone in the world with no one to turn to for help.
He did his best to get by, but it was often hard just to find enough food to eat. Many days he went hungry, as there was simply not enough money for him to buy food. When he did have money, he often spent it on alcohol or drugs just so he could forget about his problems for a little while.
One day, Kuto decided that he had had enough of living like this. He packed up all his belongings and set out for Europe in search of a better life.
