Kuto’s life no. 223

Kuto had always been a bit of an outsider. He was never quite sure why, but he always felt like he didn’t quite fit in with the rest of the world. Maybe it was because his hair color was blond, or because he wore aviator silver eyeglasses. Whatever the reason, Kuto often found himself feeling lonely and left out.

One day, Kuto decided to take a trip to Barbados in order to try and find some peace of mind. However, even in this beautiful place filled with sunshine and happiness, Kuto still couldn’t shake his feelings of loneliness and sadness. He tried to enjoy himself, but it just didn’t feel right without someone to share it with.

Eventually, Kuto became so despondent that he stopped leaving his hotel room altogether. He would just sit inside all day long wearing nothing but a green shirt and his black bowler hat; staring off into space for hours on end. It seemed like there was no hope for him ever finding happiness again.

Then one day, out of sheer desperation, Kuto decided to take a walk on the beach near his hotel…

Kuto had always been a bit of an outsider. He was never quite sure why, but he always felt like he didn’t quite fit in with the other kids at school. Maybe it was because his hair was a different color than everyone else’s, or maybe it was because he always seemed to be wearing clothes that were a little too big for him. Either way, Kuto always felt like an outcast.

That feeling only intensified when Kuto’s family moved from their home in Japan to Jamaica. It wasn’t just that Kuto didn’t know anyone in Jamaica; it was also that he looked so different from everyone else there. His blond hair and pale skin stood out in stark contrast to the dark skin and Afro-textured hair of the people around him. Even his clothing seemed strange to the locals, as if he were trying to dress like something out of a movie or TV show instead of like a real person.

The other kids at school quickly began to tease Kuto about his appearance, calling him names and making fun of his clothes. It quickly became clear that Jamaican culture wasn’t going to be as welcoming as Japanese culture had been. In fact, it seemed downright hostile at times.

The final straw came when someone hacked off most of Kuto’s hair while he was sleeping one night. When he woke up and saw himself in the mirror, his heart sank into his stomach and tears welled up in his eyes. He knew then that there was no place for him here; no matter how hard he tried, he would always be an outsider looking in on Jamaican life., 500 words

Kuto had always been different. As a child, he was never quite like the other kids his age. He was always more serious, more mature. His parents had died when he was young and he’d been forced to fend for himself from an early age. This hardscrabble existence had made him tough and streetwise beyond his years.

Now, at twenty-five, nothing much had changed. He still looked out of place amongst most people his age. He preferred the company of older folks, those who’d seen enough of life to not take anything for granted. Maybe that’s why he felt so drawn to Liberia – it was a country full of hardships and struggle, but also one full of hope and opportunity. It wasn’t an easy place to live, but it was real and honest in a way that few other places were anymore.

He arrived in Monrovia with little fanfare or expectation – just another foreigner hoping to make his mark on this war-torn nation. And yet, from the moment he set foot on Liberian soil, he knew this was where he belonged. There was something about the land that called out to him, something that spoke to his soul. He could feel it in the air around him – there was magic here if you knew where to look for it…
